Half Price...Yes, Please!

Recently I saw someone selling a Restoration Hardware couch on Craigslist. I emailed them about potentially buying it, but it had already sold.

It was the Lancaster leather couch pictured below:

I was a little let down because the price was so low, so I did some online searching to see if there were any other used couches online for sale in the area.  Right away I found Bari Leather Furniture, check it out!

From their website:
The Arliano is the original Lancaster Sofa Shown in Restoration Hardware. The Arliano collection is in a class of its own. This set is the best of the best. A solid hardwood frame - 100% Italian leather make this set one for the ages. The extra deep seating and glove soft leather will give you comfort for years to come. This set will continue to improve over the years like a fine wine. Similar sets are sold in stores for over $12,000. Don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
If this set looks VERY familiar to a collection seen in your favorite retailer, that’s because it is the original design that they sold for years. Recently, they switched factories and had to alter the measurements just a bit due to the switch. This is the original... and still the best.
Can you believe it?  The same couch at Restoration Hardware is $3000 more than on this website.  I'm not saying we'll purchase the couch (Eric likes to say, is it a want or a need?), but I know where to go if I ever wanted to get something at half the cost.
I love finding deals. I wish I could be a personal shopper.

Baby Anderson

And here are a few more belly pics!

Time has been flying with this pregnancy and I cannot believe we are half way done in less than 2.5 weeks.  I'm already anxiously awaiting the 20 week ultrasound to see how Baby has been growing and developing.

Today I had a doctors appointment and Baby's heart rate was 150 bpm.  So thankful for a healthy baby!

We've also been busy working around the house and I will post pictures soon of updates we've made.

Here is a sneak peak of our old living room...

Have a great Monday!

Lamps

Remember the sconces I found on Craigslist from Restoration Hardware?

Here is a picture of the matching floor lamps at RH.  They are listed at $359 each.

Restoration Hardware
Last weekend my mom and I were shopping at Tuesday Morning, and we found these copycat floor lamps that work perfect in our living room.  I actually like these lamp shades better than the plain white ones at RH and the price tag was much lower!

Cost per lamp = $69.  Nice deal (& thanks mom)!

Also, I wanted to post a few pictures of our now filled bookshelves!  Last week Eric's grandma, Shirley, came and secretly decorated the bookshelves for my birthday.  Isn't that sweet?

Now our living room is fully complete with the bookshelves filled!! On to the next room...

Thanks for stopping by,
Courtney

Chair Hunt

Check out our bargain of the week- a fun wingback chair!! We've been looking for one wingback chair for the living room for a few weeks now but didn't see anything we liked. We were excited to find this floor sample at a favorite home store at a HUGE discount that fit our needs perfectly.

We don't have any leather furniture in our living room (or at all actually) so it will balance out all of the upholstered pieces well.

Accessory for the Fireplace

Our new purchase for above the fireplace....two of these Restoration Hardware sconces. Are they too big at 13" each? Maybe...but I really like them. They will fit perfect with the style of the room!

The first floor is starting to feel homey...compared to a few months ago at least :)

On the short list of things to do next:
*Build bookshelves on both sides of the fireplace
*Get window treatments up
*Finish painting kitchen cabinets and the kitchen walls
*Put in new flooring for the kitchen

Thanks for checking in on our house progress and have a wonderful holiday weekend!

The Before. Are we in over our heads?

Here are some before pictures of our "L"-shaped living room and dining room. We've come such a long way with this room, I forgot how bad it was when we moved in!!!

Room 1 & 2 Coming to a Close

We've been overly busy the last few weeks...so progress on the house has slowed a bit. It's a balance that we're trying to learn how to maintain, as we do not want our house project to overtake of our free time.

This weekend my parents are coming up to help again, and Tom is going to be dry-walling the fireplace with Eric! After the fireplace is finished our living room and dining room will be essentially done (minus the bookshelves we plan to put in)- so we will be able to move our furniture in.

We're really looking forward to this area being done. It means we will have a dining room table to eat at finally.

Just to give you a picture of what the living room looked like when we moved in:

*Pink Walls
*Blue carpet
*Outdated window treatments and decor
*And wait until I show you pics of the floor to ceiling mirrors in the dining room!

It is so fancinating how a room can transform so quickly with only minor changes. I'll post some "in progress" pictures tomorrow of the room and hopefully by the end fo this weekend will have some "finished" pictures too!

Making It Cozy

First big project= the living room and dining room

We decided the moment we moved in to our house that the first room that needed updating was our main living area- for reasons of sanity. The pink walls, blue carpet, and full length mirrors get to you after a while (I'll be adding lots of before and after pictures throughout our project)!

The first few weeks in the house we kept busy with smaller tasks of taking down wallpaper, ripping out carpet, re-painting, etc. Once we got the room to a clean slate, we knew something was missing from this "L" shaped living area. With a recommendation from our designer (Eric's Grandma), we came up with the idea to add a fireplace and bookshelves to one of the walls in our living room.

The idea behind this is to have a focal point in an otherwise plain living area, and to create a more welcoming and cozy home.

As we are waiting to get our fireplace installed, you can see where we got our inspiration:
