One down, two to go...

Happy almost Independence Day!  With the heat reaching 100 degrees, I have opted to stay inside and plan a few projects around the house.

Today I wanted to show the completion of our half bathroom!  This was actually done long ago, but we needed to put a door up to finish the room before crossing it off the list of rooms to complete.

I've posted the journey in previous posts (links below), but thought I'd post some before and afters today.

Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, and Step 4...finally!!!

Before...

Mirrored door and glitter wallpaper....
Of course and outdoor light fixture makes sense in a small bathroom.

Finished Room...

This room is at a slightly awkward angle, so I couldn't get a picture capturing the entire washroom.

The fixtures are all polished chrome, although they look a somewhat brass in the pic.

Kohler toilet and sink.

love the wallpaper (thanks grandma shirley)....did you know it's making a comeback this year?
TJ Max find.

RH Outlet find.

That's it!  One (half) bathroom down, two full bathrooms to go!

Is it Really November?

Oops, I missed an entire month of posting.  Where does the time go?

We've took a break from house work in October and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather with weekends in Pentwater!

Now that the winter is approaching, we're re-energized to begin work on the house once again.  We've had the half bath gutted for a month or two but are close to the finish line of having this ready to go.

To check out the "before", here is a link with a few pictures.

Last weekend Eric's mom so kindly wallpapered the bathroom, and wow does the print make the room look a whole lot bigger than before.  This wallpaper is so neutral and will make the fixtures we install stand out.

Note the we don't have a light installed in the room yet, so the pictures are dark.

Also, we recently purchased some discounted items from the RH outlet to compete the room.  We've been on the hunt for polished chrome pieces for a few months, and finally found some!

Bistro Tissue Holder

Lugarno Faucet....this took forever to find and we purchased at over 50% off

Asbury Mirror...ours in the one is the 3rd mirror in the back.
Asbury Double Sconce

If you haven't been to the RH Outlet, I highly recommend it for a good deal.  Some of their furniture is still expensive, but if you're purchasing lighting or bathroom items, the discount is normally 60-80% off.

Now that we have the sink, toliet, mirror, and fixtures...we're ready to install.  I'll be so thrilled to have two working bathrooms in the house in the near future :)

Have a great weekend,
Courtney

Rainy Day...

Hi!

This weekend we're home working on the house.... On the agenda is crown molding in the family room, finishing up some last minute touches around the room, and beginning to frame out the master bedroom to prepare it for new drywall and insulation.

Here are some updated pics of the half bath that Tommy has been working on:

**Here is a post with pics of the bathroom in progress.
New drywall after plumbing was done.

And base and crown molding added...

Next up: Put up wallpaper and install the new sink, toilet, accessories we've purchased.

Here is our wallpaper we've selected.  Thanks Grandma Shirley for saving wallpaper over the years...

And here is out sink and toilet by Kohler going into the half bath:

And finally, I bought the accessories (in polished chrome) for the bath at the Restoration Hardware Outlet at 80% off.  We have to hire a plumber, but hopefully this project will be completed shortly!

It's a small bathroom, so there isn't much creativity involved in designing this.  My only hope is that it looks better than it did when we began....yikes!

In progress....again

This week we had some MAJOR work on the house...all new plumbing!  I never thought I'd get excited about getting copper pipes installed, but...our water pressure is great and we can now begin to renovate our bathrooms.

We went with Repipe of Illinois and only have great things to say!

Here is a picture of the house getting prepped for a messy day.

And here is a pic of our half-bath after the plumbing crew was finished.  All of our galvanized pipes are now copper...

Now all we have to do is re-build this bathroom.  I have my ideas...

Here is a before picture of our half-bath, in case you forgot how ugly it was!

Thanks,
Courtney
