Off to the Races...

Hello Friends!

I've been busy lately and apologize I haven't been updating the blog! I promise you we have lots of projects in the plan to complete this year and will have some fun pictures to come :) Just this weekend we FINALLY got door knobs for all of our new 6 panel bedroom doors.  Here is a quick pic, but I'll post pics once we install them. This picture doesn't do these knobs justice...they're a heavy crystal and beautiful when the light hits them.

Last weekend we took a break from working on the house and went to Churchill Downs to celebrate Mother's Day. This was my first experience at the race track and I loved it! My grandmother even had a race named after her, and we got to present the winning horse and jockey with their trophy!

The Gilbert Family with the owners of the horse Second Street City
Virginia Gilbert...that's my gma!
we were literally ON the race track watching the races....so fun!

I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend!

Knobs

Hello Friends,

A few weeks ago we replaced our overly-decorated doors upstairs with 6 panel white doors (hooray!). With the carpet up, wallpaper off, and new doors, the hallway is transformed from a 1950's style to a 21st century style!

We bought the new bedroom doors on sale at Menards (we love Menards), but they did not come with hardware.  Therefore, I will wait to post pics of the transformed hallway until we pick out and install door knobs.  I'm currently searching the internet and stores for fun knobs to put on each bedroom and closet door.

Should we have all of the door knobs the same? Should we give each room a different door knob since each room is decorated differently?  Should we get vintage knobs or new ones?  And how can I find door knobs that are decently priced?

Here are some pictures of knobs I like (most of which are over $100 per knob, so I won't be getting):

Glass Knobs for the Bedroom Doors....

And milk glass or porcelain knobs for the closets...

Does anyone know where we can find fun knobs? New or Used...

Happy Friday,
Courtney

Front Entrance

Front Entryway Pictures....

As you know, Eric and I have been working on the foyer and hallway throughout the last few weeks.  As we are still figuring out how to re-do our staircase (well...Tommy is figuring that out), I thought I would post some pictures of our new front entryway!

Also, we previously had a plain door knob on the new front door but we recently purchased and installed a new handle.  It was similar to the one I blogged (here) about a few months ago....what do you think?

Before picture of Entryway.  The glass was really bad at keeping the winter cold out of the house.  It had to go!

The previous owner told us that a famous glass maker created these windows. Cool fact, but not a fan....

After picture of our new front doors!

another outside shot.  Equipped with our new door handle.

I installed this myself...I felt proud that I didn't mess it up.

Here is an inside shot of the doors.  Although the lighting is dark, you can see how having clear glass changes the look and feel of the room.

We are very happy with the changes so far, and are looking forward to showing more pictures of the fully completed foyer :)
