New Project

Happy Weekend Friends!

Eric and I have been working diligently on the house the last few weeks to get our "green" room ready for some big updates.  The "green" room will no long have that title after this weekend as we are taking up our hunter green carpet and getting new floors installed in our family room!

While I wait until that big project is done to post pictures, I wanted to post a few pics of a project I recently took on....art.

Here was my inspiration...Restoration (surprise!).  Can you believe these sell for $200 EACH picture??

Restoration Hardware
I loved the look but not the price.  Plus I had seen a similar project on another blog a few months back and had loved the idea of trying this at home.  Note:  I'm not the most artistic person, but this craft was so easy that anyone can do it!

Here is my finished project...

What enjoyed about this project is that it gives me the same type of look I liked in my inspiration picture, but at a fraction of the cost.

Here is what I did:

I first went to amazon.com and bought this book, Wild Flowers of America, for $3.42.  It has over 400 color prints included so I had a lot of options to choose from.

After I picked 7 prints, I cut them out and put them in cheap black frames from Hobby Lobby.  The frames plus mats were about $7 each.

So all in all I spent around $55 for 7 pieces of art...not bad, right?

I'm planning on putting them up in the kitchen to give that room some more color.  I love trying new things and creating things on my own, so this project was a success in my book.

Until next project...
