House to Home

A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.

Today Eric and I spent a day with dear friends, and I was reminded why we are so focused on and excited about updating our house. A home is a place to relax, to build relationships, to show love and hospitality to others...and Eric and I deeply desire to serve others in this way.

We experienced the warmest hospitality today at Katie and Jeff's home and we both left feeling blessed by our relationship with this family.

I often get overwhelmed with the amount of work that still has to be done, the messes that are made with each home project, and the amount of time renovating takes out of our normal lives. It was encouraging to stop for a moment and remember that we have a plan and we're well on our way to actually making this house into a home that we picture making many memories in.

Also...as we're waiting on the final update to our living room area (bookshelves), I thought I'd post a few of the pieces we've picked out to go in this space.

First, a settee! This piece has a really deep back so it's super comfortable to sit in. Placed next to the new fireplace, it's my favorite new nap spot!

Second, an area rug for the living room. We got this for a steal at TJ's and I just love how it brings in so many colors. The back of the bookshelves on both sides of the fireplace are blue (shown in the pic below), to tie in the blues in the rug even moreso.

This picture of the background blue is pre-fireplace, but you get the idea...

Third, an armoire....I love this armoire. We may put this in our entryway to hang coats and store gloves and such, but I vote for keeping it in the living room. With it's bulk, it evens out the weight of the room just perfectly.

And a final picture putting it all together...all we need now are our bookshelves, window treatments, and some decorations!
